MINAS SPIRIDIS (1938-2020 )

Minas Spiridis, the Greek designer is one of the newest designers to create pieces for Georg Jensen. He started his career as an apprentice goldsmith in 1953 and began creating his own designs in 1961. In 1969, he moved to New York City and created jewelry which was sold throughout the U.S. and Europe. In 1980 he returned to live in Greece and opened a workshop in Athens. For the next 20 years he designed and executed works in a variety of media. He currently works out of his own gallery on the Greek island of Mykonos. Spiridis began designing for Georg Jensen in 1992 and has created designs for jewelry, a watch and hollowware pieces. His designs are very sculptural, sleek and modern.
